A free remove.bg alternative
remove.bg is retiring its standalone website on 1 December 2026. Background removal moves into Canva, which has owned remove.bg since 2021, and the developer API moves to Leonardo.ai. Unused pay-as-you-go credits expire on the same day.
If you just want to drop an image in and get a cut-out back, without an account and without a design suite around it, noBG does that. It is free, it does not watermark the result, and in Photo and Line art mode the image never leaves your device.

What noBG does not do
It is one tool, not a design suite. There is no editor, no templates, no batch queue and no public API. If you need those, Canva is the direct successor and that is a fair reason to go there. If you only ever used remove.bg to get a transparent PNG, noBG is the shorter path.
Moving over
There is nothing to migrate: no account, no credits, no install unless you want one. Open no-bg.org, drop an image on it, and download the result. The five-step guide covers the modes and export formats.
If you had unused remove.bg credits, spend them before 1 December 2026 — they expire with the site.
Other options
Being honest about the field: Canva, Adobe Express, PhotoRoom, Pixelcut and Picsart all remove backgrounds well. They are bigger products with accounts, apps and subscriptions attached. noBG's case is narrow on purpose — free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded in the local modes, and it opens in about a second.
